Trying to extract urban Context from Shapefile

I am trying to make urban context using a Shapefile, I all need is to extract the heights of the buildings and there location (so I can use to extrude the volumes), maybe some here can say how to do this using some code. I"ve tried meerkat and ELK and does not work.
