Hello!
I´m fairly new at Rhino and I cant seem to add the right texture to a pendant.
I´ve tried downloading somo textures, but once I add them to the object it looks too saturated.
I tried changing the texture properties and playing with the texture scale and mapping option, but still can´t find the right way to do it.
And tips?
I´ll attach a pic of the kind of texture I´m looking for.
Thanks!!
not sure which material you are referring to… the silver with it’s inclusions or the enamel inside?
Silver with inclusions ![]()
ah, ok, that would be a multi channel PBR material that would require a displacement map for the bumps and crevices, the base color channel with metallic (matching the displacement channel so your crevices can be dark) , and possibly a sheen map so the crevices can be matte and the base color can be shiny.
this would be an easy task to create in substance painter for someone skilled in that program.
it may be possible to even find something that would work on one of the free PBR websites. (google free pbr materials)
a quick poke at substance materials finds this
which can be fiddled with in Rhino to get this-
while it may not be perfect, I find that getting one that is close teaches me how those materials are made, I can then photoshop the textures to alter their look for what I’m trying to get.
attached is the Rhino material file, drag and drop it into an open Rhino session to load it up.
