Trouble creating a Class A surface with inflection

Hi everyone,

I’ve been struggling for the past few days to create a Class A surface that contains an inflection, and I can’t seem to get a clean result.

No matter how I position my CVs, tweak the curvature graph, or adjust curvature acceleration, I keep getting reflection and zebra kinks right at the inflection point.

Even when I try something very simple, like an S-shaped curve and then build a surface from it, the result still isn’t clean.

I feel like I’m missing something fundamental here. Has anyone dealt with this before or knows what I might be doing wrong? Any tips, workflows, or resources would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks!

Double check to make sure you have got a very dense mesh for the zebra settings - by default they’ll probably be way too coarse.

Post a file plus annotated screenshots so one can understand what is not working and how it should work.

im trying to create a disc guard for my dirtbike. the blue curves represent the top view and now i need to make them 3d curves. My plan was to create some sort of reference curves(the black straigt lines) and then move the CVs of the blue curves to sort of follow the reference so im not just blindly moving CVs in Z. Picture1

Then i started to play around with how i want the curves to look in “z” and saw that i will probiably need a inflection, thats when i stared trying to create basicly any inflected surface to see how i can aproach my predicament. Picture 2

Hope this makes any sense of what im trying to achive

So why the specific need for Class A surfaces?

kinda I just want the most visable and sortof driving surfaces to be class A

Also just trying to create the most simple inflection creates kinks

Oh my god, i cant belive that made such a difference in my zebras. thanks

The kinks in the zebra stripes are the result of the render mesh being coarse. The render mesh is used for the display. The actual geometry is smooth.
