Trim to create panels

Any idea how i can create panels by trimming the tower with these cutting objects in yellow ?

? Someone ?

You basically just want to split up the surface in the center right?

I thing that your intention is to split the surface at its isocurves, You can extract isocurves and even split a surface with the isocurves. And the isocurves can be anywhere not just where they show in (default) shaded mode.

Attaching this just to see if its close to what you want.

Hey, thanks, but you used rhino 8, i have rhino 7. Therefore i can’t open the file. Also i see you used Evolute ? I don’t have eolute, could you explain me if there are tools available in Rhino 7 to do what i want ?

And yed i want the surfaces between the curves. Thos extracted surfaces will become panels.

Use the SPLIT tool.

Hi -

You can find 2 file converters in this topic: Rhino 3dm file version converter

Why did you do to Nurbs ? Thanks !

You can’t arbitrarily split a SUBD wherever you want - if it was possible I guess you’d be introducing subd topology that wasn’t in your design intent (ie. more vertices would need to be added to split the subd). Brep surfaces can be split anywhere.

So doing this is better in GH so that you can modify your SUBD and have the floors update.

Here’s the R7 file.

I literally just exploded your center part that was it (“explode”) then used “inset” then extruded with the gumball. However you created your geometry you actually have a lot of options as to how you can achieve the next stage. If you created this in grasshopper you’d be able to do what I did in this file to every panel inside grasshopper (WAY quicker of course).
