See the attached file - I have a closed curve that overlaps itself, I put a point at the intersection point to either split or trim the small portion and I cannot. I add a line that can start/end at the point or just go through the point and I have no issues executing the trim/split commands trim test.3dm (29.6 KB)
I think this might not be a bug. There are two parts of the same curve at this location and the point only splits it once which still leaves the curve as a single segment. If you for instance use the existing point and another point anywhere along the curve, Split will work. The use of a line crossing this location must be making two intersection points rather than one. The same can be seen in v5 too.
@GregArden am I mistaken? Let me know and I’ll file it if so.

Its working the way you describe but I guess I could look for multiple intersections at a splitting point.
