Tools > Options > Annotation Styles Slow, Unresponsive 100% CPU

Running Version 6 SR17 and when I try to get into the annotation settings, it hangs up and takes forever to load or do anything with regards to annotation styles. Never did this on my other laptop so I’m not sure whats going on. Only major difference is a better processor and a 4K screen vs 1080p.

Any ideas?

Hello - do you mean via the Properties of selected annotation, or DocumentProprerties > Annotation Styles? I’m guessing the former… but just making sure.
Can you please run SystemInfo in Rhino and post the results?
Does this happen in a new file with just a few things or is it specific to some files?

It’s within the options dialog when in Document Properties and trying to work with any annotation styles like adding new ones, changing overall scaling, fonts, etc.

Hello - I’m told by the bigger brains that there was a bug fixed recently that showed up on some systems and may be what you’re seeing - that said, I have not located the actual bug report yet…

@tim - does this ring a bell? Is there a YT I can check?

Yes this was a problem with an Eto control. This is the YT issue where it was fixed. You can work around the problem until 6.18 is available by setting text scaling to something besides 150%.

I have windows set to 175% scaling right now. Funny thing. Rhino just crashed on me completely while looking through the advanced settings in options.

Hi Mike,

I appreciate you letting us know about the crash. Did you happen to send in a crash report? We looked through recent reports but didn’t see anything with your email. The file you posted was Rhino’s last ditch effort to save a model and not the .dmp file. The latter is the one that contains debugging info that will, sometimes, let us know what was going on when the crash occurred. Of if you have some set of steps that you can take to make Rhino crash by all means let us know.
