To many lines for lasercutting

I need to have a text cut out of a steel plate. I made a testfile with the amount of letters it will be in the end but i used only one letter so i do not have to make all the cutouts. I just want to know a more or less price for now. I end up with a huge file that sophia from tailorsteel cannot load. I joined all the lines but still sophia will not load it. Rhino says it has 1650 objects after joining but at tailorsteel they still count 14500 lines.

Anybody any idea about how to fix this? I took it into fusion on earlier occasions but fusion will not open anymore. I guess my temporary license has expired.

Try to change the export scheme so the polycurves are not exploded.

You could use VisualHull nesting, it produces single line accurate results perfect for laser cutting

If I were you, I’d send them a file with one letter, ask them to import and send it back to you as *dxf together with a screenshot of what they see on their screen.

Chances are, their software comverts your splines into lines…
