Things in layer dimmed out, not accessible

I’ve somehow got a layer into a strange state. The things in the layer (all curves) are dimmed. That is, they are visible but grayer than usual. I cannot select them, or do anything with them. If I go to delete the layers, Rhino says there are objects in it.

The layer is unlocked, normal black color. Rhino says that nothing is hidden.

This is Rhino 4. Ancient, but I use it.

Perhaps those objects are locked?

Duuuh. Yup, that was it. I guess I had never locked objects before, just whole layers.
