Let me know if you want to see some of the plug in pictures doing the cam programming. I’ll be happy to post them.
Are you sanding with a hard block or is there a certain look you need with a certain block?—-Mark
I used an orbital sander to sand it flat, down to 800 grit.
Body was flattened by CNC at first. Lots of sanding to get the machining pattern out of the surfaces.
The block sanding I would imagine would drive me mad trying to get it flat. I know this because I have some Japanese planes to flatten wood boards some 6-7 years ago (and all the plane sharpening stones and stone flattening stones too) and it drove me mad… It’s an art!
But I will do the flat block for the next non-relic style - yeah, relic (last request from the client) + vintage (original request) dont demand such a nice flat finish IMOHO - Im leaving sanding, scrubing, etc marks in the paint surface before the varnish so varnish will cary those defect like a ‘relic’…
Every project has its spirits (good or evil, light or dark) in the design.
Hello Xavier,
About two months ago, I had the idea of building a Telecaster. I had the same problem of not finding a clean 3D model, so I started constructing in Rhino using probably the same old drawings as a basis. Unfortunately, I came across this post too late—it would have helped me a lot.
Congratulations anyway!
Thanks. Nice job!
