The darn start-up pop-up

At startup, depending on temperature, air moisture content and DOW-JONES fluctuations, the popup allowing to choose recent files, etc… will remain on for anything between a femtosecond and a full minute. When I actually DO want to use it, 9 times out of 10, it will disappear before I have found the file I want to launch and clicked on its thumbnail.

It’s 2026 folks. Could we get something a bit smarter that that ?

Say, what about a simple rule : if the mouse pointer is hovering over it, keep it on !

Does that sound reasonable ?

Maybe easier to disable it?

On my end, sure.

But one of the purposes of this forum is to make suggestions to improve the software, right ?

I’ll second the unpredictability of the splash screen time out. Its annoying for sure to want to open a file or template and just as I go for the button the splash screen disappears.

Hi @osuire

Yes this has been happening to me too. I do think its supposed to stay on when the mouse hovers but it’s getting to it in time that is the problem. I’ve noticed the same thing you are reporting and wish it would be tuned.

It could be settable in options, for those of us who want it on screen longer allow a time limit setting so it stays on for a longer time without having to rush the cursor over it.

I wish that the recent files allowed more files in the list or a setting to set the number of files.

And I would like a “write to manifest option” a file that lists every file opened and its location. It could just be a simple text file located anywhere the user chooses.
