Texture disappears when going from a rendered viewport to raytrace

I must be missing something basic here. This is my first attempt at adding a texture since leaving Flamingo. I’ve succeeded in adding a knurl to a cylinder and it looks pretty good in the rendered viewport.

But as soon as I switch to a raytrace viewport, or attempt to do a rendering, the knurl disappears. I can’t figure out why.

I will attach the file in case anyone wants to take a look.

edit: Looks like a computer reboot has solved this. It seems to be working fine now.
