Is it normal that text shows up as X-ray, visible through objects?
Can I get rid of this?

I’m not seeing this here. Can you send a portion of the file that shows this? Also check if your display mode is set to the defaults.

Also, check to see if there is ‘Draw Order’ applied (BringToFront, etc) If so, ClearDrawOrder will clean that up.
