Text tool for Rhino 6 not working

OK, so that’s working… And I expect the macro with Leader above will work as well…

I think it’s clear now that it’s simply the dialog that’s not working. So that will be up to @alain or @stevebaer to figure out why… I know nothing about that stuff. I think some of these glitches will pop up from time to time, as, in anticipation of cross-platform compatibility with Mac Rhino, all the dialogs for V6 have been completely re-written (in ETO).

OK, so _-Text does work. Thanks Mitch

Let’s try the following (if you’re willing). Can you open the Rhino options dialog and enter your email address in the update and statistics settings?

Also make sure the “enabled Updates and Usage Statistics” option is checked.

Then try running the text and leader commands a few times. If an error occurs in Rhino and it isn’t considered one that actually takes the program down, Rhino will send a report to us when usage statistics are enabled. Your email address will help me try to find your specific error if one is actually occurring and being processed.

Send me a private message about what your email address is.

Thanks

All done. Is it just me who has that problem with the text?

Hi @Sascha_Holland-Kuhn
I have just discovered the same / similar issue with menu items Solid / Text and also -Textobject.
Nothing appears in the file with -textobject, and menu selection shows textobject but goes straight to “command” on a new line.

I have also had constant crashes if I select any (most) annotation options, and having no font appear in dimension styles.

I am going to work through everything above, but will not have time tonight. It will most likely be Easter before I have a couple of days.
Rhino is only one tool in my suite, but have been relying on Rhino 5 when required.

This is more so to tell you that you are not alone.

Barry.

@bm_cadd Can you just run SystemInfo inside Rhino and post the results here? Thanks, --Mitch

Hallo Barry, thank you for your feedback. I have also constant crashes since I started trying to solve this text problem. Crashes almost always when changing render settings. Getting really annoying now. No workflow at all since one week.

Sascha

The NVIDIA 375.86 driver will be updated with the 2019 Autodesk Updates - normally early to mid April.
I always run with Autodesk and hp Z workstation certified drivers.

As I said above, I have not had the time to systematically go through procedures.

There have been a ‘few’ crash reports sent when things have occured.

Now something new. I finally was able to run Rhino 6 on my second computer. No problem at all with the text tool. Looks like the problem is related to the computer.

Just for completeness, can you post the _SystemInfo results from Rhino on that machine?

Out of curiosity, on your machine with the GTX, do you have GeForce experience installed?

For the GTX 1070, Nope not yet. But did it now. Also updating the driver now. On the other it’s the 750Ti it’s not installed.

Updating driver and run GeForce experience at least render problem got solved. Runs stable now. J

Ha, that is kinda funny. I was hoping it was installed and interfered with Rhino, in which case I would have suggested turning it off… But if it does make (some) thinks work I guess you should leave it in.

Reinstalled Rhino one more time. Text problem stays. No clue what I could or should probably copy from the other computer to get it run.

Did you try to set the font in the dimension style to something other than the default Arial?
Before you start the text command.

I click on changing dimension style and immediately Rhino crashes.

I think we have found some useful exception reports related to your problems. I think they are being handled at the moment.
