I’m trying to connect two sets of data to a colour swatch. The component shows a text to geometry conversion error.
because you have no geometry, only text, which the geometry preview component cannot read as geometry, because it isn’t, yet 
- if your intent was to preview text as geometry maybe look into FabTools plug-in or the Heteroptera plug-in - both have text-to-object or text-baking options
google will save you:
Once your text is converted to an object then it may be previewed through the component you were using.

also this is why not all your text converts to numbers:
Make sure to clear (backspace) that empty line
