I noticed for some reason text tag 3d items can never be the colour indicated on the swatch. If I put it on white, it comes off as a dull grey. Is there any solution for this?
Thank you for reporting this. The current default material settings for text tags is to have both metalness and roughness set to 1. The metalness to 1 is the setting that makes the tag take the colour of the environment map.
I have filed a task to change this behaviour and have both metalness and roughness set to 0, which will cause the tags to reflect more accurately the color and make it independent of environment settings.

No there is not way to control anything else than the colour for 3d text tags, unless you create your own tags and define their material manually. The fix should happen in the next few days.
