Hi,
V5
I have my layer I am drawing curves on above the grid layer I have drawn special grids on.
The grids I am following but the drawn curve sits below the grid, so I cannot see it.
I see a thread where it is said layer order denotes draw order.
well for me it doesn’t.
…and anyway I often I structure my layers and dont want to have to place them contrary to the order they are in.
I have often wished layer order denotes draw order as per Macromedia Freehand, and such would be useful right now.
The best option would be to tell a layer to draw above others., or better still to indicate what draws over what. (might need a column adding indicating that such as a b c d etc)
Now I know there is BringToFront but I get annoyed having to run that command after each curve is draawn !
Can one make it run auto during a drawing session then turn it off when draaw is done ?
Hi,
I need the grids translucent ideally and over the items.
I also have a number of raster images over which the grids go and over the grids go the drawing, layer order is the way.
Is it that in V8 this can be done ?
I need to get this massive project finished and another one then I can install V8 and get time to mess about and set it up.
Can I make the grid translucent ?
Can one make it run auto during a drawing session then turn it off when draaw is done ?
is that also possible as I am fed up of running it at each and every draw I do.
So the ‘grids’ are raster images, not vector lines?
In any case both V7 and V8 also support transparent layer and object colors, including curves. Here is a grid of lines over an object (they are above the object), the lines are color by layer and the layer has a fairly transparent color - alpha=50 (0 being totally transparent and 255 being totally opaque).
Cross your fingers that a McNeel employee in here sees it, and then “puts it on the heap”, and maybe you can check back in 5-10 years and find out that nobody has even looked at it since then…
Can BringToFront be allocated to a layer so that anything drawn on that layer is given that command as such ?
This would allow me to have everything I am drawing in a single plane (all are on that plane) to be visible. ?
