Taper essentials

Hello,

I want to taper a square 30 by 30 to a trapeze with base 20 and top dimension 40, height 30.
What I do is:
Command: taper
I select the object to taper
Enter
I point the start and the end of taper axis
(Copy=No Rigid=No Flat=Yes Infinite=Yes PreserveStructure=No)
I type start distance 20, end distance 40
Why on earth do I get 30 and 60 instead?
If I set 10 instead of 20, I laso get 30 (the initial dimension).

Hello - can you post an example, along with points, or a line, that indicates the start and end points of the axis you are using?

-Pascal

I guess is because the taper command only modify one end, not both, but is just a guess, also if you define the axis in the middle. you have to type 15 as start and 20 as end to get the 40

Hello,

Please check the file and 9 screenshots attached.

If so, it needs only one distance, not two (start and end).

Completely unintuitive.

Please, leave it. It’s clear now: Only one side of the object is manipulated at one time.

The 2 distances necessary are in fact the scale ratio for manipulated dimension.

Thank you for your time.
