I’m encountering an issue with the Sweep 2 Rail command while trying to create a surface. The outcome isn’t as expected as it’s showing a kink that affects the entire design. Attached below is an image/file to provide more context. I would greatly appreciate any solutions or advice on how to resolve this.
Below, you can see the specific area where I’m attempting to create a surface. There’s a noticeable kink that appears after executing the rail command.
It is not clear to me where on the object the problem is occuring. Perhaps it will be clear to someone else but perhaps not.
Use the Rhino command ViewCaptureToFile or ViewCaptureToClipboard to capture the screen instaead of taking a photo. Then mark on the image where the problem occurs.
Which curves in you file are the rails, which are the sections, and which are used for other purposes such as trimming surfaces, etc. One way to make it clear is to reoganize the curves into layers name “Rails”, “Sections”, “Trim”, etc. It is best if you upload a file which contains only the curves and surfaces directly relevant to your problem.
Thanks so much for your help and for sending the file! Unfortunately, it seems like the file is saved in Rhino 8. Could you please save it in Rhino 7 format, or possibly share an alternative solution?
When running an older version of Rhino, you are bound to run into this file version issue. You can use a Rhino file format converter so that you don’t depend on others for help. There are two different solutions available from this thread:
Thanks so much for sending the updated file! I really appreciate your help. Instead of sweeping one half, I used the curve network to create the entire surface after building curve along the section profiles, and it worked out well I guess.
