SurfaceRelief 1.8.2

surface with bmp size.gh (20.2 KB)

Please check this file.

I may be doing something incorrectly?

surface with bmp size.gh (21.4 KB)
surface with bmp size_0.stl (9.9 MB)

Thank you! I don’t think I was clear above though, Is there a way to “cut out” the shape that is in the picture? so end result would be just the face with no backdrop. Hopefully that makes sense!

surface cut out.gh (21.8 KB)
surface cut out_0.stl (16.0 MB)

Ok, I used a different .bmp, black background and turned off all previews except display geo. I think I got it now?

Yes. Them turn on “Run” of ExportMesh, you will get a stl file in the same folder.

I was able to get it for this one image but have not been able to reproduce the result with other images. I’ve tried to put them on a black background which worked for this one, but I get failed to create surface errors mostly. I’m sure it’s me!

sorry, wasn’t clear again - the above image (face2) did NOT work. I have only been successful with the original “leaf” example. Sorry for any confusion.

The second image background is not pure black.

Nice smooth edges and offset (thickness) for some shoe uppers parts obtained just using SurfaceRelief and a simple grey image!

How would you have the pattern fade to smooth surface near the sole topline?

Would this work building on a polysurface brep?
