Hello people,
I am trying to create a flexible fiberglass ducting with grasshopper. I know how I can build most of it but the first component has proven to be frustrating. I have a helix and want to sweep a surface around the helix to make the initial coil based liner to the duct. The challenge has been keeping the curve section aligned with the first and second helix course. I would appreciate any input that can be offered.
Hello
it always better to post a file!
The simple solution is to make another helix that is translated, or cut the existing one in 2 parts and use Sweep 2.
Something like that
Thank you for your prompt reply. I haven’t used the forum very often and forgot about the attaching a file [below]. your third example is exactly what i was trying to accomplish

[Sorry its kind of a mess because i was experimenting]
Here is a version with your component, and one with Nautilus one.
I choose Catenary to make the profile curve, but you change it easily.
The idea is to cut the helix after one turn on beginning and one turn before the end, and then use the each part of helix fr Sweep 2.

Laurnet,
Thank you for your time and sharing your knowledge on the matter. I will study it closely to see where I can improve my approach to this and other modeling challenges when I get the next opportunity.
Kind regards to you Sir!
