Surface transparency in a block

I am seeing an odd thing when converting a simple planar surface with a transparency applied into a block - the resulting block is more opaque than the surface was before it was “blockified”. Below is an image showing the result - note the change in color of the original surface with 50% transparency when it is made into a block using the Block command. As a comparison, hatches do not seem to be affected in the same way.


Is there an explanation for this?

So, if I am reading this right, the bad thing here is opacity of a surface in a block increases vs. just surface… right? everything else looks correct?

Yep, that’s it. I stumbled on this while working on something else and found it kinda odd.
