Currently sub-object selected items highlight the edges of the object, even when working in a shaded view. I’m suggesting that we have an option to show sub-object selected items with a user-defined color and show as shaded.

Yeah, currently as far as I can see this does not follow the display mode setting for Shade-Highlighting, I guess at least it ought to do that.
