Subd symmetry visible in rendered view

That the symmetry part is shaded differently in the shaded view I’m completely fine with, but why does it have to be like this in the rendered view? Means I constantly have to remove and then re-apply subd symmetry.

twiddle these setting until you get it how you want it-

color reduction to zero will not shade it at all-
show reflected axis to no
will make it invisible.

Thank you.

Next question is, why does iRhino on the iPad even have this enabled by default?

I don’t think either application should have this out of the box in the rendered view because of when you send models to people with default settings, but especially not iRhino since I don’t think you can even change settings there (or if you can, nobody will probably do it).

Amazing, thanks Kyle!

I have to agree that the symmetry should be off for render mode as default option.
The new user should do the less possible tricks to get into Rhino and it should get the mostly expected result/behavior as default.

The simmetry change in color is absolutely good for modeling but pointless for rendering.

Pls put this into the next upgrade, it’s just an option in the default settings.thanks

thanks for that @mkarimi would be the guy to speak on that, (and change it as needed) as he is the keeper of the iRhino code

@stevebaer would be the one to discuss the default behavior of rendered view symmetry settings.

I tend to agree, that symmetry display should be off by default in rendered view. I’ll let the discussion play out and the decision be made by those in the proper payscale-

fwiw- set this and make a template, and it’ll be that way for all your models that are built in that template when you file>new.

Can you share a file so I understand better what you’re referring to. I think iRhino should have the same defaults as Rhino and I think it does unless there’s a bug.

We can of course expose settings in iRhino as needed.

this is what the issue is- The center line and dark side display of symmetry should be off by default as per the request in rendered mode.

Thanks @theoutside, now I’m tracking.

I’m watching this conversation to see if the change is going to be made in Rhino default rendered mode. If not I can add some settings in iRhino to let you change how symmetry is displayed.

FWIW, I agree that default for rendered mode should be as suggested in this thread.
