Subd - how to weld these naked edges?

I have this basic case where I need to weld the overlapping vertices of a subd and get rid of the naked edges, so the lower part should become like the upper part and i don’t know how to do it.

Yes, something like this.

A bit annoying because i have to set the vertices apart first and then use Stitch.
Is there no way to just select the vertices and weld them?

This is done quite quickly and easily.

Indeed I tested it in the WIP, but it also works in Rhino 8

In the WIP the Selection Filter: Edges button has a right-click for Selection Filter: None
