SubD concentric offset

I try to build up my flat SubD (3d will follow later) from the center and need to offset the outside lines.

So I would select the outer loop and will break my fingers with Gumball 2d transform+Shift+Alt for copy. This only copies the line, but does not create surfaces.

What works is to copy the loop in z direction than 2d scale that project on c-plane. But there must a an easier way, right?

Is there a shortcut that I am missing?

Hi @s.alt
Select the loop, start dragging on one of the gumball’s scale handles and then hold down Shift + Alt Gr

Cool, thanks. That works, but for a right hand person is really is a finishing move…

Yeah, I see that! I’m actually left handed - so there might be a better way for you “righties” Maybe someone else has a better way. Oh, look… just found out, I think! If you use ExtrudeSubD and set Basis to UVN and direction to free (and you can use Shift to lock the direction… or turn on Ortho)

Yes, also works. But I have to say this tool is not really self explainable…
SubD is already much fun, but handling comfort can be improved for sure.

For left hand, select edge loop, start dragging on one of the gumball’s scale, press SHIFT, press CTRL, relaese LMB.
Did you look for that ?

Thanks again. That is the right handed solution - another finishing move. I tried the same, but pressed CTRL before I dragged the scale which does not work. Kind of strange.
