Sub-object selection highlight problem

First of all is there a way to change this eggplant color or disable it completely?

The main problem is that in Rhino 8 WIP, only the clicked sub-object is highlighted. When choosing a different sub-object in the selection menu, the highlight remains on the selected sub-object and does not follow what is selected in the selection menu in real time.

In Rhino 7 the sub-object highlight works as expected but the eggplant highlight is equally annoying.
