SUB D Question


-want to create these spheres connected around a curvy surface, join them and keep them subd
-the one on the left is the joined subd the one on the right is just a sphere intersecting to use as a visual reference of what I want in render view

  • i really had to think about how to do this but I think I achieved the type of look I am going after

Totally unrelated but here’s my question: is there a way to “freeze” the face/line/vert so that I can pull & do stuff without affecting a frozen face/line/vert and not an entire subd (lock)? I would love to be able to have this or know how to do this.

so one question, why does it have to be one connected subd? why not simply use the intersecting spheres?

your best bet is to create one “panel” with the topology you want and then duplicate it to flesh out the rest of the model.

@theoutside not sure I follow what you mean. Any thoughts on my question about “freezing” geometries in the subd ?

you can name a position- that is about as close as you can get to what you are looking for.
