My rhino stutters while orbiting, zooming, or panning. I tried updating my drives, have the battery power “High Performance” plugged in or battery, using only the laptop screen instead of the two monitors and the problem of stuttering is still there.

Can someone help with this?

If you open Rhino in safe mode does it still stutter? Is this in a particluar file or can you place a box and see the issue?

It happens with every file, even with a simple box.

In safe mode, there is NO stuttering

Safe Mode isn’t using the video card

A clean install of the Nvidia driver is a good place to start.

There are 3rd party apps that can override the hybrid graphics settings (set to high performance)

Lenovo Space for example.

We were also seeing issues with overlays, like this recent thread.

I did a clean install of the Nvidia driver, but the stutter still exist.

Troubleshoot any peripherals (remove monitors, test with no mouse)

Safe mode is a big clue, as well as removing the video card it runs with minimal plugins (no 3rd party, just the basic rhino defaults). This would be a more tedious troubleshoot, focusing on video environment is recommended.

I just tried, re install Rhino, removed the mouse, removed the monitors, just the laptop screen and the problem still exists, I do not know what other thing I can do.

Note: Rhino safe mode is only wireframe

I suspect something is switching your Primary OpenGL to the the secondary card.

Close Rhino and then go to device manager, disable the Arc Intel and then re-open Rhino (not a solution if it works, just troubleshooting)

Hi Japhy

There is no stutter when I disable the Arc Intel, but as you said it is not a solution

There is something interfering with the frame handoff between the NVIDIA GPU and Intel Arc display controller

Try updating the ARC driver, there were significant updates in late 2024

Check for Bios Update, there may be updated Bios that improve hybrid graphics switching behavior

Hi,

I updated both the Intel Driver (ARC) and the Bios, but the problem still there

What exact model is your laptop? I suspect there is software affecting your High Performance settings.

Dell precision 5690

look at your Dell Optimizer / Dell Precision Optimizer

it includes “intelligent” graphics switching that can override your manual GPU settings

Turn off “Adaptive Performance” or “Intelligent Graphics Switching”

also look at Dell Power Manager it can throttle or switch GPUs based on power profiles , set to “Ultra Performance” mode and disable adaptive settings

Check BIOS for any “Dynamic Boost” or “GPU Power Boost” settings

Rhino is just a symptom here, hopefully one of these potential settings is the cause.

Hi, this is a bit late, but I tired everything with downloading Dell Power Manager and Dynamic Boost.

I also re-installed a new windows, and put a new Graphic Card, but still the problem is still there.

Mention: my colleague have the same exact laptop, but they do not have this problem with Rhino.
