Struggling modelling a flare

Hi guys,
I would need your help please.
I have been studying Rhino for a while but recently I started modelling by my own my water filter jar and I am stuck in something I thing I am making more complicated then it really is.
I am stuck with a detail of the modelling, a sort of flare on the body of the jar.
I am attaching here some pictures so you can figure out better.
I already tried with several tutorials how to do flares/scoops but without succeeding.
Thanks very much in advance, any suggestions are well appreciated

Hi Serena - please post a file with the body as you have it. There are a couple of ways to do what I think you are asking.

Hi,
thanks for your reply?I had attached two picture, if they are not useful, could you tell me please in more details what would you need to figure it out better?
thanks so much in advance

Hello - in order to help, or show you what I would do, I need to make a model - if you post the model you have, there is a good chance I or somebody can help in a reasonably short time and get it more or less right; if you make me build the whole thing I will almost certainly not find the time, and even if I or someone more patient than me does, it will only be approximately like your model at best.
If the model is confidential, you can send to tech@mcneel.com with a link back to this topic in your comments.

In the mean time this is the working file waterjar080.zip (638.5 KB)

Hello - a simple way out is to make a curve in the side elevation:

and use that to trim the lower surfaces. Then make BlendSrfs to connect the surfaces:

WaterJarTransition.3dm (249.6 KB)

Incidentally, I do not know if the design is meant to be symmetrical but as is, it is not. Also, not quite tangent across the back seam…

-Pascal

HI, thanks for your reply, I will check the design, thank you so much, the thing is the flare is not all the way through in the reference, I am struggling because it fades away half through

Hello - in that case, you can structure it like so -

WaterJarTransition2.3dm (127.2 KB)

The blend (or whatever you choose) only extends to the ‘fattest’ point on the form.

Thank you so much, let’s see if I can sort it out but first I will have to check the symmetry.
thank you so much again, I will keep you posted
