Stress formulation at a node within a beam

Hey, everybody!

Is it possible to know the formulation that dictates the stress at a point within a beam element under both compression and tension (no bending/buckling stiffness), i.e. its functional form? Assuming I use this as the fitness function to feed to Galapagos, I wish to create a visual that would display what optima the optimisation algorithm could be aiming for by plotting said function in 3D space.

there are closed solutions for the maximum stresses in beams under different load- and support conditions. See e.g. Roark’s Formulas for Stress and Strain.
