Struggling with that all the time as well. Weird, I kinda got used to it…But it would be excellent if someone could wipe it out once forever.

Is it really that impossible to fix?

No, it is still on our list of bugs to fix in 6.x at the moment. Hopefully it will be something we can easily fix.

Just to clarify… I always have ortho (at 45 degrees), planar, smart track (see smart track options below) and gumball on. Osnaps (end, point, midpoint, cen, int, perp, tan, quad, vertex) are also on.
