Hi,
V8,
I am forever needing to marry pics to plans, usually Me109E to create profiles.
My dream/vision/desire is to select points on a picture, and maybe straight line features, then select same on the plan, hit enter and have the pic matched to the plan.
attached a 109E plan and the pic to marry to it.
Just interested in the side of the a/c.
is this possible, as it isnt in Photoshop.
Please show the process with a video if poss.(not just say use cage)
or screen shots.
Many years wanting to do this.
need to see it done please.
It’s not possible to align a 2D plan of a 3d object with an arbitrary shape to photo of the oblect. If the object is essentially 2D such as a sign alignment should be possible. Similarly if a portion of an object is close enough to planar then alignment with that portion of the object should be possible. These are limitations of geometry, not of software.
Hi, I just need to map the image in its planarish sides, the spine areas etc no chance.
to the plan.as tugging on the distort tool in pshop is hell, one move and it shifts somewhere else.
I want to go click click click click click on the image then select the targets for those points and have a best fit occur,
anything is better than half an hour tail chasing.
To be honest, this sounds like a task that by the time you have distorted the image that much, you could just ask an AI tool to attempt a side elevation reconstruction. It would likely make up just as much detail as you would destroy or infer from a perspective transform.
There are probably users here that could advise such tools.
Hi, Thats interesting, but then I see differences, mottles dont match those in pic, the 8 is now larger, evident also compared to the cross, than the cross arm, we have gained a II Gruppe hrz bar, so not sure how this is of use as such.
Thats not my a/c plan, we have gained a wing.
please expalin what you did.
What Gemini is and how it managed to creat what wasnt there in the pic, etc.
yes that might not be always very accurate, AI tends to be a bit creative overall, so take the results with a grain of salt and some handwork might still be needed, you can also ask it to focus more on accuracy in areas that you feel need rework, its usually an iterative endeavour so it rarely pops out results that are ad hoc good to go. you can also ask to create an overlay texture and you start composing some parts yourself in your photo editor, like extract the 8 onto a blank and further compose it in an editor. i usually experiment with creating textures like that.
if you have a recent firefox there are some AI buddies built in, its basically just a tab on the side now that you can open, for most you have to register (free) to access the text to image tools, chat gpt works without registering but the image processing ability is quite slow, so for this kind of stuff try google gemini or microsoft copilot. copilot and gemini are also available via web.
so how it works you basically just enter your wishes into the AI tool and negotiate further changes via a sort of chat thats it. it will then process the images which you can directly download.
here was one version without the 8 after which i had to ask to add it, i could still ask to process that further as explained but i leave that to you.
here one image where i did not manage to convey my idea of actually using the orthogonal image as the result, so you also have to find a good way to communicate unambiguous.
I thought that was a typical AI mistake - the tail wheel is up in the air - until I realised that the man at the front is wearing the aeroplane. Silly me to doubt AI .
I picked up on the tailwheel issue, but until reading your post I completely missed the man standing in the hole in the wing. I guess we need artificial intelligence because there is so little of the natural kind around these days.
What is it they say - “what goes around comes around”. I remember the days of mainframe computers when anything that came out printed on a thick stack of folded paper was automatically considered the gospel truth.
Hi,
Other AI wanderings from reality are an F or G spinner, undercowl rad and wingtips onto the Me109E. a carb intake less its grille and angled front trying to become a circular intake, wing leading edge MGFF stumpied up, and a wheelhub cap put with spokes peeking through.
a Fredmil or Gertil.
