Standard view changes when you do anything

Not sure what this is about…

V8 SR11

Auto cplane set to object-

shut it off and it’ll behave again.

Oh, thanks.

I fail to see the utility of rotating an ortho view after a gumball move with several objects selected… but this scenario is desirable for some people?

that’s why you can turn it off.

Sure, but why should I have to?

The auto cplane should set once upon selection, right? No reason to set it again (and rotate an ortho view) after you use the gumball to move it, is there?

If I’d have rotated the selection then maybe I would have understood, but right now I don’t. Why code it like this if (as your answer implies), this isn’t a desirable scenario for anyone?

there is a sticky setting in there…if you use that it changes the cplane to object and stays put until you pick a new object. if you don’t use it, it flips to the object when selected, then back to the previous cplane when deselected.

we have a loooot of differernt types of users, who use Rhino in countless ways. putting in options and an on / off is the best way we can try and accommodate everyone. I didn’t write this, so I’m not up to on the history of how those choices were made by the dev, but we typically don’t add stuff to a tool unless someone asked for it along the way.
