SpaceMouse not working in WIP

I’m not getting any action with the Space Mouse (Wireless, Win11) in the new WIP. I just upgraded my 3dxware also, so it could be that, but it is working properly in Rhino 8.

I’m also getting an Unknown Command when I try to use the SpaceMouse command.

Thanks for reporting this. We have indeed been mucking about with the SpaceMouse integration in the RhinoWIP. I’m curious:

If you go to to Options > Advanced and find the Rhino.Options.SpaceBall.UseLegacy what value is it set to? true or false?

Mine is set to False. Changing it to True and restarting the WIP restores SpaceMouse functionality.

Thanks for verifying that. Yeah, clearly we have more work to do on the Windows side. We’re going to respect non-default options values going forward - ie: we won’t ignore that change from false to true :crossed_fingers: - so once we get this plugin loading sorted out you might have to opt-in to try the new stuff. Please chalk this up as an early-adopter annoyance.

Would be great if you could make that fix fairly prominent, whenever it is implemented.
Maybe checking on false / true and suggesting the change?
Or just clearly pointing it out.
Or simply resetting to true on every build?

It seems to me that rotation (roll) of the space mouse is still ignored in WIP even after the workaround. I’m clicking enable/disable in the app and it doesn’t seem to matter…

But maybe it’s because I’ve been forced to Factory Reset my WIP a number of times and forgotten how I enabled roll in V8, I’m not sure…

Oh, and Rhino 9 seems to be inverted compared to V8 right now? Plus, the 3DConnexion app is missing the “navigation modes”…

The guys who wrote Rhino 6. Prior to that there were SpaceMouse settings in Options.

Yes, it just shows the standard 3dConnexion options, not the Rhino tailored ones. My guess is that you won’t see the tailored options until McNeel have finished whatever they are doing to the software. You have to use the Rhino SpaceMouse command to get to them for now.

I don’t see that here - but I have done in the past. Unfortunately I can’t recall if I did anything specific to cure it. Maybe unticking all the Reverse boxes, changing Navigation mode then rebooting, followed by changing back and rebooting again. Or rotating three full circles on the office chair while chanting “Save the Rhino” - I dunno, sorry.

I think the inversion issue is just because the spacemouse itself uses camera/dolly mode as default, with object mode just being the same with everything inverted

Control direction reversal of Space Mouse / SpaceMouse after updating V9 WIP may be due to the “mode” having changed. To switch mode go to SpaceMouse > Popup_Menu

Same positive restoration of the Spacemouse,
Set Options > Advanced and find the Rhino.Options.SpaceBall.UseLegacy from false to true and restarted.
