We don’t have a category combination of Serengeti & G1 so I’m leaving it here.
I have made a basic cluster for point to snap to the closest 1x1 unit grid pt.
I was expecting to see the end result only, but I’m seeing two points instead
and, what more strange, the size of the dot inside the cluster is different when cluster is closed after editing
This is V7 and that double PT error is there as well.
One may argue that if the cluster is set to be visible it could display two dots, but where is the circle then?
The dot is just not shown when you close the cluster. When the cluster is closed, you see a point and not the dot.
This becomes clear when you set a color different than white which is used for the point preview

If you remove the dot component what are you seeing when cluster’s preview is off?
My understanding is like this:
Cluster’s preview OFF: nothing is visible
Cluster preview ON: visible elements inside cluster are visible, elements with preview OFF should not be visible.
…and when the cluster visibility is ON, I am seeing the dots that with their preview OFF inside the cluster. I think this is all about.
In the following scenario with cluster’s preview ON:
I am seeing two dots, but not the circle, quite the opposite what I would expect
The dots just aren’t shown. It’s the same with Kangaroo dots and symbols.

Guess, one needs to learn individual elements behaviour. Nothing wrong with it, maybe a little lack of consistency.
Maybe dots and symbols don’t belong into clusters?
