Some minor RH8 SUBD improvements

1.) Creating a single subd face should append by default (or at least have the option to do so). 100% of the time if I’m creating a subd face and connecting it to existing subd geometry - I want it joined to that geometry. I don’t want to go through additional steps pre / post to make it join - this would really make the workflow a lot smoother.

2.) Please let us be able to edit a soft-crease. I sometimes want it softer in one area and right now I need to redo the entire soft crease (and guess the values at all the points again). Modifying a soft crease is a bit of a guessing game at the moment.

3.) When setting soft-crease values sometimes the value at certain points will stop displaying. Usually when I have 3 points with values like 30----40----50 then it will stop displaying the 40. I still want to see it.

(At around 00:14 the stop left value disappears & then another point later on)

Using the 3dFace command, if you pre-select the object you want to append to, it will use the Append option (and that option will disappear from the command line).

I feel like you are making this more complicated than you need to. SubDCrease will automatically assign linearly varying crease values to the vertices between the ends of an edge chain. This is why the 40 disappears in a 30--40--50 chain. SubDCrease lets you edit an already defined crease, without having to recompute all values.

For example, if you had selected an edge chain showing the values 30--*--*--60, the implied values would be 30--40--50--60. If you change one of the ends of that chain, let’s say the 30 to 90, the new implied values are 90--80--70--60. You can also change one of the middle vertices and the rest of the chain will update accordingly.

One vertex can have different “sharpness” values for each edge chain to which it belongs.

Note that you can also select highlighted vertices to see their current sharpness values:

Or select many edges in your SubD, even smooth edges, to see what their sharpness values are:

Selecting just the creased edges will show all the sharpness values needed to reproduce that crease setting, and only these:
