So long, from Pascal

Greetings everyone - just a note to let you know that this is my last week with McNeel/Rhino. It’s time to do something different, so I am retiring at the end of June.

Thanks for your valuable support and feedback over the years - please keep it up, and best wishes to all of you.

Thank you so much for your help over the years. I remember you replying to my very poorly communicated Rhino questions when I was still a student learning Rhino 4 starting around 2009. My success as a Rhino user is in no small part due to your support.

It was also a pleasure to meet you in person when when I came to the McNeel office in Seattle for the ART training in March of 2020, just days before the world shut down.

Good luck with your next endeavor!

The shoes you are leaving are unspeakably large and impossible to fill.

I cannot adequately explain how much you have helped me over the years, nor could I begin to thank you for enabling my career that has been based on Rhino for the last 27 years.

I thought I knew what I was doing until I TA’d one of your classes, and realized that I had so very much left to learn.

Selfishly I hope as I did with JB that you fail miserably at retirement and come back out of sheer boredom, but as with JB, I expect you will succeed at retirement as you have here as well.

We have all been better off with your hand on the wheel.

A very sincere thank you and a well deserved cheers to you.

This won’t be a problem for me at all provided you give me your personal cell number so you can still answer my dump questions and write scripts that make my life easier as a Rhino user. Feel free to just send it off-line. BTW guys and gals with the same kind of dump questions send them to me and I’ll get you answers for $5 each.

Pascal you will be missed…Good luck with retirement.

Wow. Pascal taught me how to do clean modeling back in the day. One of the smartest modelers I’ve known. His ability to read a question and to just “get it” was second to none.

This space will not be the same without him. On the same token, whatever he does next will be awesome !

I wish that today was April 1st… An end of an era! (@JimCarruthers just beat me at this)
@Pascal , I would like to thank you, because you have helped me so many times with various custom scripts and kindly answering my questions. The Rhino community will never be the same without you…
Leaving the forum means that there is something exciting for you somewhere else. I secretly hope that one day you will be here again.

Hi @Pascal,

I don’t know where to start telling you how invaluable your work and support was over here, so much to be thankful for. We were all so lucky to have a human (I hope!) version of the Microsoft paper clip  Thank you for all your help over the past 20 years (that’s when my first post on the old Newgroup was, and I still remember how thrilled I was that some guy named Pascal answered and helped within 10 minutes from when I had posted…) It’s been like that from then on. Not only your knowledge of Rhino and how to help is amazing but also the way you were able to handle supporting users while keeping a good sense of humor, politeness and common sense. A rare combination that will be really hard to replace.
You will be missed!

Wishing you all the best with your next chapter :beers:
