Snapping mesh to a surface

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if there is any way to snap a mesh to a surface for example I downloaded 3D model of a car (mesh form) and I want it to sit exactly on the surface (ground). Is it possible? When I convert it from meshtoNURB it loses its appearance.

why do you convert that mesh to nurbs? other than that, if you turn on Vertex in your snaps you can move it exactly from the mesh vertex points to the surface.

Another way could be to make a bounding box of the mesh and using it to snap to the ground (or, in the front view using align bottom command and snapping to the “ground”).
