SmartTrack Through Line or Surface Edge

When drafting it would be incredibly more efficient if SmartTrack engaged even when the mouse is hovering over a line or surface edge. One example for this is when drawing a door in a wall that has a 3"-4" jamb. Right now if I want to draw the door I have to:

  1. Start the line command
  2. Hover over the corner of the wall
  3. Drag the mouse from the corner ALL the way past the end of the line to engage smart track.
  4. Type the value of the jamb distance (say 3")
  5. Hit the space bar to execute the command

It would be way more simple if I could:

  1. Start the line command
  2. Hover over the corner of the wall
  3. Drag the mouse from the corner just SLIGHTLY in one direction (over the wall line) to engage smart track
  4. Type the value of the jamb distance (say 3")
  5. Hit the space bar to execute the command

This prevents the need to drag so much farther in cases where the line is in the same direction as the SmartTrack. It would exponentially increase the speed at which I could draft because it would reduce the amount of zooming and panning required to use smart track.

I attached two screenshots to show what is described above.
