SmartTrack question

Quick question about Smarttrack.

Should smarttrack trace a line between the start point of a line and any smarttrack points “on tangent” to it like the osnap “ontan”?When I want to to draw a from say one corner of a rectangle through the diagonal corner (extend past the second corner but maintain the angle) I always end up just placing a point on the line and using the osnap “ontan”.

I know it may not seem significant but it does add a point on the line and disrupt the midpoint snaps.

… not sure if i could 100% follow your description …

_line FourPoints
or use something like…
_line _pause _alongLine
check the _alongLine snap - ist this what you re after ?

you can also draw a polyline or two lines (as i suppose you describe ?)
then
_join _SimplifyCrv
to get a single simple line with correct midpoint snap.

Maybe post a screenshot so it s more clear what your after.

kind regards - tom

This sounds like a job for the tab key to me. Start your line, then hover your cursor over that diagonal corner you spoke of; hit the tab key and that should constrain your next point to a line defined by those two points. Describing it is way harder than doing it.

Thanks Mark that was exactly what I needed.

This is direction lock, not SmartTrack.

I never implied it was a SmartTrack function, just that it was a possible solution to the problem.

Direction lock does the trick but I thought it would be something smarttrack would do automatically.
