Small updater wish

(Willem Derks) #1

Hi,
(@brian I guess)

I delete the Rhino shortcut each time I’ve got an update.
Would it be hard to add this pseudo code to the installer:

If RhinoShortcut on Desktop is Vanilla
   replace RhinoShortcut
End If

-Willem

#2
If RhinoShortcut on Desktop
   DesktopShortcut=False
End If

Prefer not to have it create a shortcut at all, as mine is customized.

I prefer chocolate, but yeah…

I think the pseudo code might be easy to add. Just to clarify, you’re asking me to make it so that:

A) If Rhino is already installed and
B) The Rhino shortcut is not on the desktop
then
C) Don’t create a new one

Right?

Hi Brian,

For me, yes, I would like to not get an icon on my desktop each time Rhino is updated.

But also note Mitch’s reply: He has a customized shortcut that he likes to keep.
So that should be accounted for.

I wonder if for an update it is necessary at all to place a desktop shortcut.
Why not go for:

A) If Rhino is already installed and
B) The Rhino shortcut is not on the desktop
then
C) Don’t create a new one

Thanks
-Willem
