Shell section component - specify width?

Hi, Is there any information on how the shell section component works? Is it displaying forces along the element it cuts only? Is there a way to define a width to the line specified so it “integrates” the forces along all elements within that width (i.e similar to how slab design is performed with “strips” with a defined width).
