But problem #1 reappears when ‘shade selected objects’ is active.
Hi @brvdln , the object I have shown is not a mesh.
Hi,
after the latest Rhino update, custom views are no longer displayed correctly. The custom material is not shown, even though I have tried multiple times to reconnect the material.
Strange. Have a lot of them and mine works. Just installed R9 Nov20. The only nag is that they vaporize each time I update, so I have to go to the folder were I store them, mark them all and hit import/ open. Then everything ok.
Is that the folder path where the Rhino default environment is? I think the updates reset installs everything and if it’s not Rhinos default folder it gets messed up because I updated recently and no other settings was changed
Here’s a different kind of display mode for those who want to check the UV layout of all objects prior to rendering:
It is based on the Rendering Display mode and all objects get’s the same custom material.
UV_Checker.ini (13.5 KB)
You will need to store this file on your drive and relocate it in the display mode
@CADARTZ I keep all the custom views in a documents folder.
I tried several times to reconnect the material but nothing since the last update it just doesn’t like it
Thats strange you should be able to just re connect it
Maybe it reset some settings you had changed or maybe a tick box that should not be on or off
@CADARTZ the problem was this, it had to stay off
Always the easiest of fixes
Hey @Rhino_Bulgaria
I was looking at the MatCap + Bobi X8 = High quality Viewport - #8 by Quan_Li thread, and I’m wondering what is your current suggestion to use as the Bobi Display Type to keep the viewport fast while using MatCaps?
EDIT: Also, seems it’s that time of day for me when I should have had lunch 2 hours ago, and now my brain is a little slow There are PNG files in the MatCap > 1024 folder, and also in the MatCap>Textures folder. Which do I use where in the Rhino material and/or Display Mode editing windows?
Thanks,
Alan
Hi Alan! I mainly use several display modes depending on the shape of the object and orientation of the camera. Some display modes work better than others from certain camera angles, so I often switch between them when it’s necessary. Here is a list of my most used display modes:
- Bobi 1 (best shaded performance, beaten only by the Wireframe mode). However, it does not have any shadows;
- Modified Bobi X5 (same as the original Bobi X5 but with shadows turned off to boost the performance);
- Bobi X5 (I use this one most of the time);
- Bobi X9;
- Bobi X14;
- Bobi X1;
- Bobi 3;
- Shaded 5 Black (I also use this one quite often);
- Shaded 5 Ultra;
- Shaded 6;
- Car paint 1;
- Bronze 4;
- Light lines 1 (very useful for checking the surface matching instead using the Zebra analysis);
- Shaded 12;
- Shaded 13.
Most of the display modes listed above work with shadows, but you can disable them from the settings.
