ShapeDiver Preset Material

Hello

I just want to make sure I understand ShapeDiver’s preset materials correctly. According to this website, there is a “wide range of preset materials” organized into specific families. However, I couldn’t find a complete list of these materials anywhere except in the live preview. While this is a useful tool, especially since these materials don’t appear in Rhino, there are only 19 materials available, which doesn’t seem like a “wide range” to me. Am I missing something?

Additionally, is there any actual benefit to using these presets? Or is it recommended to use glTF 2.0 materials instead?

Thanks

The documentation might have been guilty of anticipating a faster growth for the material library  These are indeed the only available options at the moment. This has not evolved in a few years, because we have been evaluating a different way to handle material assets, as well as other types of assets that can be referenced in ShapeDiver models (textures, external geometry, etc…).

The presets are meant for users who want to quickly preview use cases without having to define materials and textures from scratch. They have the advantage to already include various textures (including metalness, roughness and normal maps), but for the best results it makes sense to use glTF 2.0 Materials and play with all material properties there.
