Shadow problem with this object

In the attached, when the plane behind the lattice is “glued” directly behind, we don’t get any shadows. If we move it, say +1 unit in Y, then I get shadows - sorta… I can’t find any suitable settings that allow me to shadow this object more or less normally… But I never have much luck with Rhino shadows. --Mitch

Dang, sorry, I can’t help from here- macBook Air does not do shadows in the viewport. If no one else jumps in, I’ll test on Monday, but I’m thinking maybe the ‘self shadow’ might be the one to mess with.
