Shade mesh from quadremesher don't update

Hi All,

I’m having this issue with Beta (8.0.23297.13303, 2023-10-24)

The shade mesh of subd objects created with quadremesher don’t update.

If I extract some polygons they never create shade mesh, if I move some points the wireframe updates but not the shade mesh.

I tried refresh shade, _clearallmeshes and shade again and it fails.

The only method that works is extracting control polygon and converting to subD again.

Any other object like a subd box or sphere work as expected.

Any idea?

The image shows how the problem only afects the SubD and not the nurbs surface.
What is strange is that some subD objects like planes or spheres don’t have the same problem.
I attached the problematic model so someone can take a look.

Hi Joaquin, we’re actually looking at a similar report right now. We should have this patched up soon. For the meantime, if you save the subd without the save plugin data check box selected and reopen it does the problem go away?

Hi Travis, yes this solves the problem.
The re imported subD doesn’t have the problem, thanks for the workaround

After some additional digging, it’s linked to the Edge Softening settings. Turn them off and itll fix it for now. We’ve got this over to the edge softening dev to have a look and fix.

That also explains why it took so much each time I move a point… apparently y tries to create the soft edges and fails. Thanks again Travis!
