Position Overview:

Kreysler & Associates’ Mare Island facility is looking for a Senior Digital Fabricator to join our team and support our newly developed and proprietary fabrication process. The Digital Fabrication Specialist will be expected to become familiar with all aspects of using Kreysler & Associates’ equipment, software and materials to fabricate molds, patterns, and products. Preference will be given to those with proven success using Rhino, Powermill and operating complex, multi-axis CNC equipment.

Ability to communicate and stick to timelines will be essential to finding success in this position as you will be responsible for the output and workflow of the digital fabrication element of our manufacturing process.

As a Digital Fabrication Specialist you will have the opportunity to learn our proprietary process, contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and coordinate the movement of products through our manufacturing facility.

Senior Digital Fabricator

Report:
This position reports to the Digital Fabrication Manager.

Requirements/Skills:

  • Supervising, scheduling, and operating CNC equipment
  • Ability to understand production schedules and deliver parts to internal stakeholders with appropriate throughput times
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members
  • Fluency with CAD/CAM software, including Rhino, Powermill, and other software
  • Exceptional organization and ability to maintain file structure on our server
  • Ability to work in a production shop atmosphere as a team member
  • Ability to check machined part for accuracy
  • Ability to understand, schedule and execute on daily production plans ensuring the output of product

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Optimizing throughput times for internal delivery to downstream stakeholders
  • Researching, developing, and documenting new machining techniques, methods, standards, and procedures to continuously improve efficiency and quality of output
  • Maintaining standards & procedures for digital and physical workflow set in place by the digital fabrication department team
  • Working, communicating, and coordinating hand in hand with other machine operators and programmers to ensure continuous flow of production
  • Cross-training with existing staff, training new employees, and improving on existing training documents as needed.
  • Creating toolpaths for parts based on daily schedules
  • Understanding and relaying production needs based on project schedules
  • Operating a 7-axis CNC robotic arm
  • Operating a 5-axis CNC gantry mill
  • Ensuring that all equipment is maintained according to its daily/weekly/monthly/annual schedule as appropriate in coordination with machine operators
  • Demonstrating “digital craftsmanship” and an understanding of the underlying geometry and data structures representing geometry in CAD/CAM software
  • Designing/modeling jigs and fixtures as required for locating and registering individual elements and setups
  • Describing and communicating fabrication information via dimensioned drawings based on shop needs and project requirements based on models/sketches provided by project design team
  • Preparing and distributing QC documents to ensure the fabrication of quality product
  • Identifying material needs for mold creation
  • Generating and distributing technical drawings
  • Attending start of shift meetings and setting daily production goals
