Selecting by area

I receive a lot of 2D and 3D DWG or IFC files where I would love to delete all the small stuff…actual size will vary between project.

My objective is to run Honey Bee simulations and what really slows them down is all the little surfaces…The little surfaces don’t contribute anything and just takes up space and time…

Any suggestions on how to do this…?

SelSmall will select based on a diagonal length, but some surfaces may be long and slim so it won’t work most of the time.

A similar tool that selects based on area would be wonderful.

Hello- you can try this script - I have not used it in a while but I think it works.

SelAreaSmall.py (8.4 KB)

To use the Python script use RunPythonScript, or a macro:

_-RunPythonScript "Full path to py file inside double-quotes"

-Pascal

Here’s one of mine…

SelSrfsByArea.py (2.6 KB)

Thank you!
It works beautifully on my mac.
I dropped it into a button between brackets after !_-RunPythonScript ( … )
