Selected objects not transparent

Is there a way to 1) make selected objects solid and 2) to change the object snapping only to the front of the object (visible portion)?

thank you!

Hi Hannes -

It looks solid.

It doesn’t?

You might want to post both the output of the SystemInfo command and a 3dm file.

@wim

  1. the selected object looks transparent/wireframe mode I would like all selected objects in shaded view

  2. thought there was a setting to enable and disable this (selecting only points that would visible if this was a shaded view)

Shade-highlight selected maybe?

@martinsiegrist thank you. This would be a workaround. It aims in the right direction. But there is probably no mode where you have the normally colored surface and the mesh highlighted without the surface turned also highlighted as far as I can see.

Would be nice to have the colors of selected objects separately distinguished from each other in global settings. Will put that on the wishlist.

Hi Hannes -

In Rhino 8, there’s the advanced setting Rhino.Options.General.SilhouetteHighlighting that somewhat does this.

One of these two identical meshes is selected, the other not:

its in the advanced settings 6 positions above, just type silhouette it will pop up

:open_mouth: :face_holding_back_tears: I need to try that out :beers:

It looks good from a distance but behaves strangely if you have a close look. There are two lines and if you go for an object snap there is a third line that will be put in the middle or highlights the edge of a surface patch.

This is the difference what I want to achieve. Clean look no snapping of hidden points.

culling ‘back faces’?

you want it transparent but culled backfaces so that it doesn’t look transparent?
