Hello @Karamba
I have gone over the manual and several example files, yet I am not sure how to model seismic load correctly in Karamba.
I understand from the example files that seismic load is modeled using “Gravity”. If that is right, why is the vector in the Z direction, when seismic is a lateral load?
How can I define the magnitude of the vector correctly?
your help is appreciated
Hi, at the moment you can only apply a horizontal vector direction in gravity to perform a seismic analysis. You can simply use a X or a Y vector to simulate a lateral load.
Thank you for the clarification. How can I define the magnitude of the X or Y vector? Any guide or references on that?
You can use the Unit vector component and set the multiplier to be your magnitude. The exact value depends on your location.
